Kari's (pronounced like car) opened as a result of Scott and Angie Taylor's commitment to expanding the availability of local foods in Lanesboro. Pairing
local meats, dairy, and in-season produce with authentic Scandinavian
dishes combines the heritage of the area with the foods of the area.
The name Kari's comes from Scott's grandmother Kari (Soma) Taylor. She came to Harmony, Minnesota with her parents (Sven and Ingeborg) and her younger sister, Ann, from Norway at the age of 3 in 1918. Her parents had two more girls after coming to America. The family moved to Lanesboro in 1938.
Kari kept her Norwegian culture alive in her children and grandchildren through dishes she would prepare for them throughout the years. She would be so proud to know that Scott was doing that for the people of the area as well.
Kari's is located in downtown Lanesboro connected to the north end of the Commonweal Theatre. Stop in and try our simple and flavorful dishes all prepared on site daily.
